The meeting between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Mahanta Thakur, Chairperson of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP-N) has concluded. Rajendra Mahato of JSP also participated in the meeting today.
Thakur claims to have the support of 20 lawmakers of the party and held discussions with Prime Minister Oli to join the government. The Oli-led government has decided to give eight ministerial posts to JSP-N along with two posts of state ministers.
Besides discussions on joining the government, JSP-N will also be holding talks on other issues raised by the party. The Thakur-led faction has decided to join the government citing that the ordinance on the Citizenship Act had been issued and cases lodged against leaders during the Madhesh movement had been withdrawn.
The JSP-N also mentioned that it will support the government because the CPN UML had addressed many other issues raised by the party.
