A meeting of the CPN-UML is being held to discuss the situation after the ruling coalition filed a motion of impeachment against Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana.
UML has stated that the role to be played by the party in the parliament will be discussed at a meeting to be held at the Parliament House in New Baneshwor at 11 am today.
Party president KP Sharma Oli will give necessary instructions to the parliamentarians and other important decisions will be taken, said General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
A total of 98 lawmakers from the ruling coalition had filed a motion of impeachment against Chief Justice Rana. Jabra has been suspended from the post of Chief Justice after the impeachment motion was registered.
A meeting of the UML secretariat held on Sunday concluded that the impeachment motion was a conspiratorial move against the court, democracy, and sovereignty. The party had also decided to oppose the impeachment motion saying that it was an attempt to postpone the upcoming local elections.
