A voter education campaign will be launched in the upcoming election to reduce the bad votes of Dalit women and marginalized communities. A voter education campaign will be launched to increase the election and political participation of the community.
With the support of Dalit Women's Association, Palpa USAID and IES, the district level stakeholders in Palpa under the slogan 'My vote is my right, becomes the basis of a golden future, let's teach ourselves and teach five more people' Coordination program between the bodies has been completed.
During the campaign, 20 campaigners at four local levels of the district will raise awareness about voter education. Tulsi Budhapriti, the district coordinator of the Dalit Women's Association, said that the voter education campaign in Tansen Municipality, Baganaskali, Ribdikot and Rambha villages of Palpa district will coordinate with the local level, conduct community orientation, sample voting, street drama and door-to-door programs.
In the coordination program, discussions were held between the heads of the political parties of the district, the District Administration Office, Palpa, representatives of the District Election Office, media persons and stakeholders. On the occasion, CPN-UML District Chairman Dhanendra Raj Ghimire, Nepali Congress Vice Chairman Jhpendra Gahire, CPN-Maoist's Madhura Dhakal, CPN-Unified Socialist Secretary Mohan Gaire and Rajmo Chairman Vishal Darlami said that the number of bad votes would be less due to voter education.
Rama Shrestha, Administrative Officer at the District Administration Office, Palpa and Kalpana Poudel, Information Officer at the Election Office, Palpa said that the campaign to reduce the number of invalid votes in the voting process should be made successful as the people have the right to elect their representatives. He said that the work to be carried out by the government bodies should be carried out by the Dalit Women's Association and it was good to make the citizens aware.
Shanta Gahatraj, the district chairperson of the association, said that there was a demand from the Dalit community that women from Dalit and marginalized communities should be seen in the leadership of the local government. Tulsi Budhapriti, the District Coordinator of Dalit Women's Association, Palpa, said that the political participation and voting process of women from Dalit and marginalized communities would be made more effective in the upcoming election.
