A total of 232 parliamentarians cast their votes today, in which 93 votes were in support of the prime minister and 124 votes against while 15 other votes cast did not support the proposal of vote of confidence, House Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota announced.

The prime minister had sought the vote of confidence as per Article 100 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal after the CPN Maoist Centre withdrew its support to the Oli-led government.

The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was forged after the merger between the CPN UML and CPN Maoist Centre on May 17, 2018. However, a decision made by the Supreme Court on March 7, 2021, had shattered the unity between the two parties.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Sapkota adjourned the meeting till 1:00 pm on May 13.
