Yogendra Kunwar elected Chairman of Nepal Trade Union Congress

Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC), a well-wisher organization of the Nepali Congress, has got a new chairman – Yogendra Kunwar- through the election.

Kunwar become Chairman by defeating Mahendra Prasad Yadav in the voting held during the 7th national general convention of the NTUC. Kunwar got 441 votes while Yadav 386, according to chief election officer, senior advocate Yogendra Bahadur Adhikari.

Similarly, Tejendra Jung Karki became senior vice chair by collecting 469 votes while Ganesh Bahadur KC and Jyoti Koirala vice chairs open category, Radhika Kuikel Khanal vice chairwoman category, Netra Bikram Thapa vice chair service category, Lalit Bahadur Shrestha vice chair production, and Rajesh Palikhe vice chair informal and self-employment.

Moreover, Ajay Kumar Rai has been elected general secretary, Baldev Tamang and Janardan Bhattarai deputy general secretaries, and Sushila Ghimire deputy general secretary woman category. The deputy general secretaries have also been elected in different categories.

The members in the open category are Kamal Bahadur Khatri, Kamal Kumar Bista, Ghanashyam Chapagain, Tek Bahadur Sarki, Madhav Prasad Upadhyay, Bishnu Prasad Adhikari, and Sujit Bikram Sah. Similarly, women members are Urmila Kumar Dhakal Pokhrel, Kabita Aryal, Tara Kumari Rai Karki, Samita Koirala, Shanti Dhami, and Shanti Singh Shah.

Following the victory, Chairman Kunwar said the social movement would be linked to the trade union movement. He vowed to connect workers to the socioeconomic transformation of the country.
