Demand of electricity increases on the day of Laxmi Puja this year

 The demand of electricity inside the country was recorded 1,438 megawatt on the day of Laxmi Puja this year.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, the demand was increased by 133 megawatt at 6:00 pm on the day of Lamxi Puja this year as compared to previous year. The demand was 1,305 megawatt last year.

It was the record except of industrial consumers as industries and factories are remain closed during Tihar festival. The NEA this year had made arrangement of power supply projecting the high demand to reach 1,357 megawatt.

The demand of power for the day of Laxmi Puja was supplied by producing electricity from power houses within the country. The NEA also exported 517 megawatt surplus electricity to India at high-demanding time on the same day.

The overall demand of 1,955 megawatt power was recorded in the system including export on the day of Laxmi Puja.

A team comprising NEA Executive Director Kul Man Ghising and Deputy Executive Directors the day of Laxmi Puja had reached Syuchatar-based Load Dispatch Centre, control room to take stock about power demand and supply management.
