Nepal Telecom has started distribution of free e-SIM to customers. Customers with mobile sets that support e-SIM can use the new SIM.
The e-SIM distribution has started from Sundhara counter of Telecommunication Office from Friday. The customers who are currently using physical SIMs can change their postpaid and prepaid SIMs to free e-SIMs. Similarly, the company's spokesperson Shovan Adhikari informed that customers who want to get a new postpaid will be provided with an e-SIM at the current selling price, while customers who want to get a new prepaid SIM card will not be provided with that SIM in the near future.
E-SIM is a type of virtual i.e. electronic (embedded) SIM. After the e-SIM is available, there is no need for a physical SIM card as it is now. It can be used to make phone calls and use data.
There is no need to change SIM card after using e-SIM. Apart from mobile sets, e-SIM can also be used in other devices and smart watches and various types of devices.
All existing users can also use e-SIM, while new users can easily get e-SIM, said the spokesperson.
