10 lakh rupees provided by Yama Bahadur Gurung (Yam Tamu) to the runner-up of the WAFF Championship in Saudi Arabia was handed over during a program in Kathmandu. Each member of the 23-member team has been given 43,478 rupees.
Gurung of Butwal sub-metropolitan city who has been living in Saudi Arabia for about 15 years, appreciated the high performance of the players and provided Rs 10 lakh as an incentive. Gurung provided the amount to be transferred to the concerned through Pema Dolma Lama, president of ANFA Women's Football Association, who is also a member of the National Sports Council.
The amount was handed over in a program attended by officials of ANFA Women's Football Association. Gurung's wife Uma and president Lama handed over the money to the players.
In the same program, Gurung provided 20,000 rupees to 8 people including coaches, managers and officials. In the finals of the WAFF Championship, Nepal was defeated by Jordan 5-3 in a penalty shootout.
