The Nepal T20 tournament will give an opportunity to
Nepali cricketers to play with international players, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) said in a statement on Monday.
This competition has been recognized by the National Sports Council. The date of the league has not been announced. "We will announce the date of the league in a few days. We are preparing to start the league in the coming September," Prashant Malla, acting secretary of CAN, said.
India's Seven Three Sports will be the strategic and business partner of the competition.
Youth and Sports Minister Maheshwar Jung Gahatraj said that Nepal T20 would benefit not only Nepali cricket but the entire
economy. According to Minister Gahatraj, the competition will create employment at the local level, and develop tourism and even foreign exchange.
President of CAN Chatur Bahadur Chand said that the tournament would help raise the standard of cricket in Nepal.
Nepal Cricket Team Captain Sandeep Lamichhane said that this league would be a milestone for young players who are making a career in cricket. "Such professional leagues will also contribute to the overall development of Nepali cricket," he said.
