Argentinos Juniors have made a formal offer to sign former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Alexandre Pato, according to reports in the Argentine press.
The 31-year-old Brazilian is a free agent after parting ways with Sao Paulo by mutual consent last August.
Argentinos Juniors opened negotiations with Pato's representatives last week but are vying for his signature with clubs from Spain, Italy, and France, TyC Sports reported on Sunday.
The news outlet said Pato is expected to make a decision this week.
Pato announced himself as one of the brightest talents in world football by scoring 57 goals in his first 125 matches for AC Milan from 2008 to 2011.
But he has since struggled with injuries and inconsistent form, managing only moderate success during subsequent spells at Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Chelsea, Villarreal, and Tianjin Tianhai. He earned the most recent of his 28 Brazil caps in a 2-0 friendly win over Zambia in 2013.
