Debutants Gujarat Titans surprised everyone by lifting the Indian Premier League title in a dream season after a stunning seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in front of 100,000 fans in their home ground in Ahmedabad.
Solid and steady batting line-up
Unlike some of the other teams in IPL, the Titans had a steady batting line-up. Gujarat Titans have won eight matches chasing this season. GT's top batting order admirably led the side throughout the tournament, giving other players the freedom to excel in their order. From David Miller or Rashid Khan, each and every player from the Gujarat team thrived on their responsibilities.
'Killer' Miller - The Finisher
The No. 5 position in Gujarat's batting lineup totally belonged to David Miller, who has taken his game a few notches higher with his finisher’s role outstandingly. So much that in the eight successful chases for Titans, Miller has been till the end in six of them he remaining unbeaten.
Hardik Pandya led team from front as captain & all-rounder
Captain Pandya was designated at No. 4, a position where the 28-year-old took the responsibility of seeing his team to safety and that demanded him to restrain his attacking instincts. Pandya took the No. 4 spot extremely well. To smash 487 runs – the highest for Titans with four fifties. He bowled only when his team needed to finish with eight wickets, expressed true all-round performance and led from the front.
Fiery bowling unit
The Titans’ bowling unit always made batter dance to their tune while conceding low runs. They have had a good mix of experience and youth, pace and spin. Md Shami specialises in providing the early breakthroughs, while spinner Yuzvendra Chahal runs riots in the other team's batting lineup.
