District level player selection has started in Chitwan for the Bagmati provincial level sports competition to be held in the last week of March. It is said that the players selected from the players of seven municipalities in the district will participate in the district level competition.
Ramji Dhakal, chairman of the district sports development committee, informed that the selection of players from eight different sports has been started in the district for the state sports from Saturday. According to him, district level players will be selected by competing between athletics and badminton players on Saturday and Sunday. He informed that 12 female and 12 male players will be selected in the track and field genres including running and long jump for athletics and six female and six male players for badminton.
The selection game of badminton has been conducted at the cover hall of Bharatpur while all the games of athletics have been conducted at the Small Haven School at Kalyanpur of Bharatpur-13. Similarly, district level players will be selected for various games till March 30. Uttam Gurung, a member of the Bagmati Pradesh Sports Development Committee, said that there was a problem in the professional development of the players when the sports activities were stopped for a long time.
Gurung said that the economic sector will also move along with the professional development of the players as sports programs will be held from the local level after the start of sports activities. The players who participated in the district level selection will participate in the Bagmati state level sports competition to be held from March 11 to April 15.
