The 14th edition of the 'Khumbu Lhosar Cup' has started from Monday.Eight teams will compete in the competition.
Mingma Sherpa, coordinator of the 14th 'Khumbu Lhosar Cup' organizing committee, says that this competition has been organized for the last 13 years in Lhosar (New Year).
According to Sherpa, the competition was organized to increase the passion for sports among the youth of the Sherpa community, showcasing their talent and connecting the community.
Khumbu Pasanglhamu rural municipality is located in the northern part of Solukhumbu district.
Shepa said that the main goal of organizing the competition is to integrate the Khumbu residents who came to Kathmandu for various reasons and to showcase and develop the talent of the youth.
The winner will get a running shield of the Khumbu Lhosar Cup, one lakh rupees in cash along with a medal and certificate, the runner-up will get fifty thousand in cash along with a medal and certificate and the third team will get twenty-five thousand rupees, a medal, and a certificate.
The best player of each match will receive a cash prize of Rs.3000. A trophy and medal along with a cash prize will also be awarded to one player who performed best throughout the competition.
According to the organizer, 2 matches will be played daily in the competition based on league cum knockout.
The closing ceremony of the competition will be held on February 19 at Sano Gaucharan Football Ground.
