In memory of the late Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, the first climber of Mount Everest, the first Tenzing Norgay Sherpa Open Climbing Competition has been organized today in Kathmandu.
58 people participated in the competition which was conducted at Krimpanji Adventure Hub located in Buddha. In which competition there are 38 men and 20 women. Nepal National Mountain Guide Association and the U.S Nepal Climbers Association organized the competition.
In the competition, separate competitions have been conducted for both men and women.
A cash prize of Rs 15,000 will be given to the first, Rs 10,000 to the runner-up, and Rs 5,000 to the second runner-up. Besides, the cash prize winners will be given hanging batches by the member secretary of the National Sports Council, Tanklal Ghising.
The winner will also get to stay at Annapurnaview Hotel Sarangkot for one night.
The program was inaugurated by Sonam Gelzen Sherpa, a member of the National Assembly, and Kancha Sherpa, a member of the 1953 Everest climbing team.
