Nepal’s national football team in Iraq to prepare for World Cup qualifiers

Before kicking off the games for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Nepal will be playing a friendly match against Iraq.

The Nepali national football team is in Basra in Iraq at the moment and Iraq has already played a friendly match against Tajikistan at the Basra International Stadium. The game, which was played on Monday night ended in a goalless draw. Nepal will also be playing Iraq in another friendly on May 29.

After playing the friendly match against Iraq the team will fly to Kuwait for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Abdullah Almutairi, the newly appointed head coach of the Nepali team, has added some young players in the squad. Gautam Shrestha, Ayush Ghalan, Suraj Thakuri, Kamal Thapa, Bishal Sunar and Manish Dangi are the players to make it to the final squad for the first time.

Final squad:

Goalkeepers: Kiran Kumar Limbu, Deep Karki, Bishal Sunar

Defenders : Ananta Tamang, Gautam Shrestha, Suman Aryal, Rohit Chand, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Bikash Khawas

Midfielders: Bishal Rai, Sunil Bal, Pujan Uparkoti, Arik Bista, Anjan Bista, Santosh Tamang, Ayush Ghalan, Suraj Jeu Thakuri, Kamal Thapa

Forwards: Abhishek Rijal, Suman Lama, Manish Dangi, Nawayug Shrestha, Aashish Lama
