Nepali Olympic swimming team leaves for Japan

The Nepali swimming team that will participate in the Olympics to be held in Japan from July 23 has left for the country today.

The Nepali swimming team that has left for Japan comprises of swimmer Alexander Shah and coach Shankar Karki. Meanwhile, Gaurika Singh, who is also another member of the Nepali Olympic swimming team, is in the United Kingdom at present and she will be flying to Japan from the UK itself.

The members will hold practice sessions for a few days and will join the Olympic Village that has been set up for athletes coming from various countries on July 20. The Nepali swimming team will be competing in their respective events on July 27 and 28.

Though Nepal has been participating in the swimming events of the Olympics since long the country has not been able to perform as expected. Gaurika Singh, meanwhile, was the youngest swimming contestant in the Olympic held in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
