Real Madrid are sweating on a possible serious knee injury suffered by Brazilian international defender Eder Militao in their opening La Liga game of the season away to Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
Militao fell badly in the 50th minute of the game while trying to pressure in defense and immediately made gestures of frustration and pain as the club's medical services ran onto the grass.
He was carried off the grass and replaced by Antonio Rudiguer for the remainder of the game.
Speaking after the final whistle, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti told the press: "It looks as if he has twisted his knee. It doesn't look good, but we hope it isn't serious."
It should be pointed out that Real Madrid lost goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois for the entire season on Thursday when he tore his cruciate knee ligament in training. The Copa del Rey champions are now thought to be close to signing Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan as a replacement.
