Request to create an environment for more international cricket events in Nepal

A meeting was held between National Sports Council Member Secretary Tankalal Ghising and International Cricket Council (ICC) President Greg Barclay on Tuesday. On the occasion of the meeting, the two parties discussed the situation of Nepali cricket, its prospects, and the support that ICC can provide to Nepali cricket.

On that occasion, Member-Secretary Ghising said that Nepal is trying to maintain the top position in the T-20 Cricket in the Associate Nations in the future as well and said that the state is investing with interest in infrastructure development. Member-Secretary Ghising reminded that the Nepal Government has included Mulpani Cricket Stadium, Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Chitwan, and Girija Prasad Koirala Cricket Stadium in Baijnathpur in Morang in the national pride project.

Member-Secretary Ghising thanked the ICC for giving approval for the U-19 Women's T-20 World Cup to be jointly organized by Nepal and Bangladesh in 2027 and also asked for help from the ICC.

I have received information that the ICC has provided good support for the World Cup Men's T20 tournament jointly organized by the United States and the West Indies.

We have also expected similar support from the ICC for the U-19 ' Member-Secretary Ghising said - 'Thank you to the ICC for giving approval for the World Cup.'

Member-Secretary Ghising reminded that the attendance of spectators is encouraging when there is an international cricket tournament in Nepal and requested to create an environment to organize more international tournaments in Nepal and also requested Nepal for assistance in technical aspects, sports materials, the establishment of high-performance training center, etc.

President Barclay stated that there is a possibility that Nepal will become number one again in the associated nations and said that the progress made by Nepalese cricket despite the limited resources and facilities is commendable. President Barclay expressed his interest in infrastructure matters and expressed his commitment to provide all possible support in the development and expansion of Nepali cricket.
