Nepal's leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane today left for Pakistan to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

He has been picked to play for Lahore Qalandars in the league.

Currently, the six-team PSL is ongoing with Qalandars sitting third on net run rate as they are tied on four points apiece with Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi.

This will be Sandeep’s second appearance in the last three editions of the tournament. Lamichhane had played for the same franchise in the 2018 edition in the UAE beside the playoffs and final.

The entire tournament is now being played in Pakistan with the Pakistan Cricket Board allowing a limited number of spectators.

Cricketer Lamichhane has been selected to replace Afghanistan leg spinner Rashid Khan who has left the Qalandars squad in the middle as he was included in T 20 series against Zimbabwe. Although Sandeep was categorised in the Platinum Category of the PSL draft he had gone unsold.

Lahore will play their next match against Karachi Kings at 19:45 on Sunday. Likewise, Islamabad United will play against Quetta Gladiators the following day.

Nepali cricketer Lamichhane was listed for the Indian Premier League auction in Chennai last week but went unsold. Hence, he will miss the IPL for the first time in four editions.

It has been learnt that the PSL had picked 25 foreign players including Lamichhane for the sixth edition of its tournament.
