The meeting of the thematic committee on youth and sports has passed a 14-point decision. A meeting organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the participation of sports ministers and secretaries of all the seven states passed various 14-point decisions, said Dr Damodar Regmi, secretary of the ministry.
Among the points passed are initiatives for increasing the budget of the youth and sports sector, preparation of national standards related to sports infrastructure, adjustment of sports personnel, preparation of policy basis for the management of the Ninth National Sports Competition and inter-level cooperation.
This is the first meeting of the thematic committee with federal and state ministers/secretaries under the chairmanship of Youth and Sports Minister Maheshwar Gahatraj after the implementation of the National Sports Development Act 2077 BS. He informed that the meeting passed a 14-point decision after discussions on sports-related plans, policies, programs, budget status, infrastructure and staff adjustment.
In the meeting, Minister Gahat Raj suggested formulating necessary policy as the essence of federalism is to bring Nepal: Scout and Youth Council into the federal structure. He said, "The development of sports is not possible with the current budget structure. The participation, coordination and cooperation of the private sector are required. There are grounds to bring donor assistance in the sports sector.
