Sports should be kept separate from politics: Oli

CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that sports sector should be kept separate from politics. This was stated by Chairman Oli while addressing the inaugural program of Nepal Ice Fifth Jhapa Gold Cup at Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium in Birtamod, Jhapa from today. "Sports is not a political party. Sports should be kept separate from politics," he said. "I urge all parties, organizations and stakeholders to work for the development of sports."

He mentioned that the development of sports sector is a matter of interest, concern and progress of all. Chairman Oli said that he has always been involved in the development of sports sector. Wishing success to Jhapa Gold Cup, Chairman Oli urged the players to play honestly. He said, "Use skill in the game, not fraud, I urge you to win the game with skill." He said that his party CPN (UML) has given special importance to the development of sports sector.

He urged that no one should look at the land donated by the family of Domalal Rajbanshi for the construction of the stadium. "I would like to thank the Domalal dynasty family for donating the land and turning it into a stadium," he said.

The winner of the 5th edition of Jhapa Gold Cup will get Rs 1.255 million in cash and the runner-up will get Rs 6.5 million in cash. The most valuable player will be given a motorcycle, the best goalkeeper, the best defender, the best midfielder and the best coach will get Rs.21,000
