T.S Thakuri has been appointed as the Nepal representative of FICTS

T.S Thakuri, the founder of Nepalgunj Marathon, has been appointed as the Nepal representative of Federation International Cinema Television Sports (FICTS).

Thakuri has been appointed by the board meeting of FICTS, which is headquartered in Milan, Italy, to work in the promotion of sports culture in Nepal.

Accredited by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), FICTs promotes the value of sports and the socio-cultural importance of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. FICTS has 130 member states. Similarly, twenty international sports film festivals are organized in different countries of five continents. The main film festival is held in Milan every year.

A few years ago from Nepal, the documentary 'Player City' directed by sports journalist TS Thakuri and journalist Janak Nepal was selected and screened in Milan.

Thakuri said that he received the letter signed by FICTS's International President Professor Franco Ascani and General Secretary Enzo Cappiello.

"With the association with FICTS, it will help Nepal to internationalize through various genres, it will provide significant support in the field of sports and tourism promotion of Nepal." Thakuri said - "Ficts emphasizes on the promotion of sports culture by awarding sports related movies, documentaries, television footage, sports photos, articles, we have got the opportunity to connect with the global network by promoting sports culture through the film festival and award ceremony.

Sports journalist Thakuri expressed his gratitude to Prof. Franco Ascani, international president of FICTS, as well as the FICTS family, for delegating him the right to do FICTS-related activities in Nepal. Thakuri, the founder of Nepalgunj Marathon, has recently returned to Nepal after participating in the three-day 8th Mass Participation World (MPW) Conference held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Thakuri from Nepal participated in this conference for the first time.

Earlier, in the 23rd World Congress of the Association of International Marathon and Distance Race (AIIMS) held in Osaka, Japan last February, Thakuri himself represented Nepalgunj Marathon from Nepal for the first time. Nepalgunj Marathon is the first from Nepal to become a member of AIIMS. Nepalgunj Marathon has completed its ninth edition. In the ninth edition of the Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon, APF Club's Gopichandar Parki and Dhading's Santoshi Shrestha became champions in the half marathon category.
