Rara : lake of Wanderlust

Travelling is introspection as it brings peace of mind out of stressfulness a person is going through mainly because of the pandemic. Prior to the global pandemic, Nepal was preparing to welcome around 2 million tourists which included international as well as national tourists which definitely would have increased the economy.

The pandemic caused official lockdown in various countries including Nepal from March. A long period of being in a lockdown with the additional stress of work from home to online classes have made our life much monotonous. After the government eased quarantine rules, Everyone deserves a break and peace of mind for a particular period.

Want to take a break from monotonous life? Want to travel somewhere away from the dust and noise? Have you exposed yourself to Natural beauty? Go wild for a while which is necessary for improving your mental health. Just plan a coronavirus-conscious trip to Rara; where not only you will witness the Rara Lake but also different flora and fauna. Rara, which is also known as the smallest National Park in Nepal. is situated at an altitude of 2,990 m (9,810 ft) above sea level and has a water surface of 10.8 sq km with a maximum depth of 167 m (548 ft).

Why travel to Rara? Rara Lake which is also known as Mahendra Daha is most of the Nepalese people’s destination because of its seductive shores. Visiting Rara may not be easy but the struggle seriously pays you off once you arrive here. Bird chirruping, the rustling of water, the breeze that makes you fall in love with the surroundings that you don’t want to travel back home. You can travel via road and also via aeroplane ( From Surkhet/Nepalgunj toTalcha Airplane) and trekking for 1 and half hours - 2hours, I would suggest trekking though you can even reserve a jeep from the Mugu airport which takes 14mins only. Not only Rara Lake, but You can also even have a look to Rara National Park witnessing alpine coniferous vegetation along with more than 214 bird species, 20 mammal species and 500 flower types. The park is the home to wildlife like red pandas, ghorals, musk deer, leopards, black deer and many others.

The Rara Lake is inhabited in the Rara National Park of Mugu District of Nepal. The best time to visit Rara is during the months of Chaitra, Baisakh, Jestha, Bhadra, Ashoj (Ashwin) and Karthik (Mid March to October end).
