3 Nepali siblings ascent Mount Vinson in Antarctica

On the 13th of January, 2022, at 6:30 PM Chile time, after spending a month in Antarctica, three brothers- Mingma, Chhang Dawa, and Tashi Lakpa Sherpa finally made a successful ascent of Mt. Vinson. The team had skied to the South Pole (90°S- Last Degree) on 2nd Jan, now they became the first three siblings to complete the ski-journey to the South pole and to climb Mt. Vinson.

On 13 Dec, Three Sherpa brothers departed from Kathmandu to join an expedition to Antarctica (the last degree - South Pole and Mount Vinson, with the mission to climb 7 summits on seven continents. The Vinson (4,892M/16,050FT) is the highest peak in the Continent of Antarctica. The South Pole, also known as the Geographic South Pole or Terrestrial South Pole, is one of the two points where Earth's axis of rotation intersects its surface.

Among the three siblings, Mingma and Chhang Dawa Sherpa hold the Guinness World Record titled "World’s First Siblings to Climb All 8000ers". And Tashi Lakpa Sherpa also holds the Guinness record for climbing Mt. Everest at the age of 20 without using supplementary oxygen. The siblings have also scheduled a plan to go on the north pole expedition in the spring of 2022.

On December 12, the Prime Minister of Nepal handed over the national flag of Nepal to take on the expedition to Antarctica.
