Australian mountaineer Allie Pepper climbing Annapurna-1 without oxygen

Australian female mountaineer and former guide Allie Pepper is going to climb Nepal's Annapurna-1 in this spring. She said that within 2026, her goal is to climb 14 mountains with a height of 8,000 meters in the world without using oxygen.

Addressing a press conference in Kathmandu today, Allie Pepper  said that she is to climb Annapurna-1, the world's 10th highest peak (8,091 meters).

Annapurna-1 is one of the 14 mountains. She is currently She is in Kathmandu with team to prepare to fulfill her dream.

She informed that she is going to climb Annapurna-1 through the mountain climbing company Seven Summit Treks. She started her journey to climb mountains without oxygen in 2007 from Mount Choyu in Nepal.

She already climbed two mountains of eight thousand meters without the use of oxygen.

She informed that on July 15th, 2023, the world's 12th highest Broad Peak (8,052 meters) and the world's fifth highest (8,163 meters) Manaslu Himal was successfully climbed on September 28th, 2023. She became the first Australian woman to successfully climb Broadpeak without oxygen.

48-year-old Pepper said that she aims to encourage women who are facing challenges.

She has 23 years of experience in mountain climbing. She said that there is a plan to climb three mountains including Annapurna-1 in Nepal in this spring.

Only six people in the world have climbed all 14 mountains higher than 8,000 meters without oxygen. Among them, only two men have reached the main peak of all 14 mountains higher than eight thousand meters in the world, it took them 16 years to do so.
