Chinese Minister of National Religious and Cultural Affairs Administration, Chen Ruifeng, visited Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha.
Dr Lharkyal Lama, Vice President of Lumbini Development Trust, welcomed the Chinese delegation including the Minister in Lumbini. Minister Ruifeng shared that his visit will find the way to future collaboration between Lumbini and Chinese sites for the holistic development of the Buddha's birth place and exchange of ideas between the two sides.
Chinese Minister and his team visited Mayadevi Temple, Ashok Pillar, Pushkarani Pond, Shanti Deep and collected information about the places around there. During the visit, the vice president of the Trust, Dr. Lama, sought initiative for regular flights from China to the Gautam Buddha International Airport, which is ready for operation.
"If there were regular flights, the tourism of Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha, would be promoted and it would be easier to spread the Buddha's message to the world." he said.
Meanwhile, a team including President of Chamber of Commerce Rupandehi Thakur Kumar Shrestha today submitted a memorandum drawing the attention of the Chinese Minister for the operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport.
