Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha has said that the present government is trying to bring in more tourists by protecting the culture and heritage of the capital.
In the honor program organized by the Newar community's national organization Newa: Dey Dabu here today, he said that they are going to attract tourists by constructing a 2.2 km heritage trail from Hanumandhoka Darbar area, which is listed in the World Heritage List, to Swayambhu Durbar area.
He said that the ministry has prioritized the promotion of night tourism in the capital, the protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. In the program, Minister Shrestha also expressed his commitment to support the establishment of the Shankhadhar Sakhwa National Award. "I am trying to find a way to generate income for the local community associated with the art, culture and heritage of Kathmandu city," he said.
