Hari Budha Magar, former British soldier Budhamagar, who lost both legs in 2010, has become the first person to skydive Mt Everest with the help of an artificial leg. In a conversation with NepalNews, Budhamagar expressed happiness over this kind of success and informed that he would stay in the Everest region for two or three more days.
Despite losing both legs in the war in Afghanistan, Budhamagar, who has been active in various adventure activities, was preparing to climb Mt Everest. However, his ascent was halted after the Government of Nepal (GoN) banned people with disabilities from climbing.
After the GoN opened mountaineering for people with disabilities, he now aims to climb Mt Everest in 2023. He has previously climbed mountains such as Mount Blanc and Kilimanjaro.
Climbers from 57 different countries are trying to climb the world's highest peak, Mt Everest. There are a total of 303 climbers including 271 males and 72 females. Thus, most of the climbers who climb Mt Everest are American climbers. There are 63 climbers including 50 males and 13 females. The second highest number of climbers to the summit is from the United Kingdom. There are 33 climbers from that country, including 29 men and 4 women. India has the third highest number of climbers on Mt. Everest. The Indian team has 22 climbers including 14 men and 8 women.
All the teams that have been given permission to climb Mt Everest has Nepali guides as well as other allies. But some Nepalis have been allowed to climb. There are 15 males and 6 females in total. This time the grandson of the late Angrita Sherpa, a famous climber by the name of Snow Leopard, is climbing and a blind Nepali is also going to climb.
Similarly, there are 17 Canadians including 13 men and 4 women. On behalf of the warring Russian Federation, 17 people including 12 men and 5 women, 14 people including 9 men and 5 women from China and 11 people including 9 men and 2 women from Australia are climbing Mt Everest.
