Inspection of Nepal's upcoming railway service

A team of Indian Railway Corporation has inspected the physical infrastructures constructed for the operation of the Kurtha-Jayanagar railway service today. A team led by Director Manoj Singh inspected the physical infrastructure prepared for the operation of the railway service from Kurtha in Nepal to Jayanagar in India and the preparations being made for Nepal.

The team was welcomed at the Janakpurdham-based railway station by Niranjan Jha, General Manager of Nepal Railway Company Limited. On the occasion, General Manager Jha briefed the team about the legal and other preparations being made for the operation of railway services in Nepal.

Talking to media persons after the inspection, Director Singh said that the Government of India wants to operate train services in Nepal as soon as possible. He expressed confidence that the service would be launched soon as preparations are being made for the operation of railways in Nepal.

Director Singh said, "The railway service that is being operated right now is small. We want large and long-distance railway services to be operated in Nepal as well. We will support it," he said.

Nepal Railway Company Limited has purchased two sets of trains from the Indian Railway Corporation for Rs 846.5 million. The two sets of trains are now kept at Inaruwa in Janakandani village of Dhanusha.
