The Jomsom-Pokhara flight service has come into operations after around three months.

The flight transport service from Gandaki province headquarters, Pokhara, to tourism hub, Jomsom, of Mustang has remained closed since November, 2023 due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The Summit Airlines that closed its air service since December 6 last year started boarding on passengers from March 1 (Friday), informed Jomsom Airport Chief Hiron Shah.

The Tara Airlines that held its service since last November 26 has also made preparation to resume Jomsom-Pokhara flights.

"With the improvement in weather and onset of tourist-friendly season, the Pokhara-Jomsom flight service has been brought into operations", Shah shared. The Summit Airlines made two flights on Friday, he added.

The resumption of flight service has eased Mustang locals, pilgrims and tourists when the up-gradation was taking place in Myagdi section of the Beni-Jomsom road stretch. Inflow of tourists is expected to increase in Mustang with the resumption of flight services.

According to the Ammapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), Jomsom, as many as 91,000 foreign tourists had visited Mustang in 2023.

Flow of vehicles heading towards Mustang through Beni-Jomsom road has gradually increased for the past couple of days with the steady rise in temperature, informed Chief of District Traffic Police Office, Rajkumar Thapa.
