This spring many Climbers completed their expeditions. According to the Tourism Department of the Government of Nepal, 70 percent of the climbers who have gone for various mountaineering trips have been successful in their climb.
Shurya Prasad Upadhyaya, director of the mountaineering branch of the department, informed NepalNews that this spring has the highest climbing rate.
This time, the tourism department had issued 131 permits for mountaineering and 986 climbers from different countries were allowed to climb various mountains in Nepal. Out of 986 climbers, 773 males and 213 females and 138 climbers were from the United States.
Similarly, 325 climbers, 251 male and 25 female, from different countries were allowed to climb Mt. Everest.
Experts have said that this year's mountaineering has made a significant contribution in re-introducing Nepal's tourism sector to the world after the pandemic.
Lecturer of Travel and Tourism in Gitanjali College Dipesh Khatri believes that mountaineering will spread a positive message to the world to identify Nepal as a safe destination. Meanwhile, the Everest expedition of this year has come to an end today.
As per, the Everest Pollution Control Committee (EPCC) the Everest expedition has completed from 11 am today. The EPCC had earlier informed all the teams at the Everest base camp to complete the ascent before 11 am and now the EPCC's Icefall Doctors have removed the ladders placed on the Icefall.
Numbers of records set on Everest
Kami Rita Sherpa has set a new world record by climbing Everest 26 times. Similarly, Pasangdawa Sherpa has become the second Nepali to climb Mt Everest 25 times. Lhakpa Sherpa has succeeded in becoming the woman who has climbed the highest peak 10 times.
This time, two Nepali doctors climbed Everest. Similarly, Nepali advocates also succeeded in climbing Everest.
Tenzing Jangbu Sherpa, the grandson of the famous climber, Late Angrita Sherpa, reached the summit of Mount Everest to pay his respects to his grandfather. And Nepali climber Nervin Magar had succeeded in taking the trophy of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar to the summit of Everest.
This time, a cleaning campaign was conducted in four mountains including Everest under the leadership of the Nepal Army.
Today, May 29 marks the 69th anniversary of the first climbing expedition on the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. On May 29, 1953, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary summited Mount Everest for the first time ever. For the past 15 years, this day has been celebrated as International Everest Day.
