Nepal to resume domestic, int'l flights to limited destinations

  • Four flights to be allowed on each Kathmandu-Doha route and Kathmandu-Dubai route every week
  • Two flights to be allowed on each Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu-Istanbul, Kathmandu-Dammam and Kathmandu-Kuwait every week
  • One flight to be allowed on each Kathmandu-Muscat, Kathmandu- Seoul, Kathmandu-Japan, Kathmandu-Chengdu and Kathmandu-Guangzhou every week

The government has decided to resume the operation of domestic and international flights that have remained suspended since the prohibitory order has been enforced to contain the transmission of COVID-19 infection.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday decided to allow the operation of domestic flights with 50 per cent seat occupancy while the international flights will be allowed as per the health safety protocol adopted by the government.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation will prepare a list of the number of flights each airlines company will be allowed to operate. It has been learnt that the list will be made public on Wednesday.

With the decision of the Cabinet to resume the flights, now Nepal Airlines and Qatar Airways will be allowed to operate two flights on the Kathmandu-Doha route every week.

Similarly, four flights will also be allowed to operate on the Kathmandu-Dubai route each week. Likewise, each of the Kathmandu-Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu-Istanbul, Kathmandu-Dammam and Kathmandu-Kuwait routes will have two flights a week.

Likewise, the government has decided to allow the operation of one flight on each Kathmandu-Muscat, Kathmandu- Seoul, Kathmandu-Japan, Kathmandu-Chengdu and Kathmandu-Guangzhou routes every week.
