One more injured in chopper crash airlifted to Kathmandu

One more person injured in the crash of Simrik Air helicopter was airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment.

Bikram Shankar, an employee of the Nepal Electricity Authority, was airlifted to Kathmandu, said Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, Birendra Godar.

A chopper of Simrik Air had crashed after being collided with a tree at Hammaredanda in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 in the district this afternoon. Captain Surendra Poudel, rescuer Tshering Bhote, assistant Manoj Thapa, NEA employee Bikram Shanker and a local Bhabin Gurung were critically injured in the incident.

Critically injured Bhabin Gurung died on the way to the District Hospital, according to the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha. Three people, including the captain are undergoing treatment at Mediciti Hospital, Lalitpur. Shanker was referred to Kathmandu for further treatment from the district hospital.

The helicopter carrying materials for the Upper Arun hydropower project met with an accident in course of landing.
