The Lumbini state government is preparing to form a development committee to run the state-level Palpa Durbar Museum.

The Palpa Durbar Museum is considered a historical heritage of Palpa. Earlier, Palpa Durbar was under the leadership of the staff but now it is being run through the Development Committee. According to Mansingh Bishwakarma, Press Adviser to the Chief Minister, it has been decided to accept the Development Committee Order-2021 for the operation of Palpa Durbar Museum as per the proposal of the Ministry of Law, Women, Children and Senior Citizens.

Palpa Durbar was damaged by the attack of the then rebel CPN-Maoist on 2006. The government had decided to establish the Palpa Durbar as a museum in late 2015 after the reconstruction of the damaged Palpa Durbar was completed. The people of Lumbini are excited after the development of Lumbini as a tourist destination in the province. The Durbar Museum was inaugurated on Feb 27, 2017.

The historic Palpa Durbar Museum has become a destination for domestic tourists. This has directly benefited Palpa's tourism business. Stakeholders say that the formation and operation of the Palpa Durbar Museum Development Committee will help in its protection.
