A group of 60 women will be trekking in the remote Phoksundo area of Dolpa to draw attention to the impact of climate change on women's lives and tourism.
The program to be held in the remote region of Karnali in October will be attended by women representatives from all the states and leaders of various sectors. The next trek is organized by Sath Sathai, an organization that marched on the Kalapathar on March 8.
The program was announced by organizing a program in Kathmandu. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Jeevan Ram Shrestha said the program would be effective in bringing Nepal's tourism to the world stage and conveying the message of the impact of climate change.
Special guest of the program, Supreme Court Judge Sapna Pradhan Malla suggested that the government and the people should take initiative to save trekking and mountaineering. Chairperson of the Sath Sathai Organization Prajita Karki said that the impact of climate change on the high mountainous region, nature-based tourism and the problems faced by local women would be highlighted and various bodies would be drawn to solve the problem.
