An endangered rhino has been found dead at the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park (CNP).

The female rhino was found dead in Namuna Buffer Zone Community Forest located at Kawaswoti municipality-7.

CNP's information officer and Assistant Conservation Officer Lokendra Adhikari informed that the rhino aged around 30-35 years was found near the western gate of the community forest.

The horn and hooves of the rhino are found intact, Adhikari informed. The preliminary investigation showed that the apparently ill and feeble rhino might have died due to electric shock in the forest, he further shared.

With this, the number of one-horned rhinos died so far at CNP in Nawalpur in the current fiscal year 2021/22 has reached four.
