Missing Tara Air aircraft: Captain's last phone location tracked

Search teams on foot heading to Larke in Lete area in Mustang

The phone location of the pilot of the missing Tara Aircraft, Captain Prabhakar Ghimire, has been tracked with help from Nepal Telecom.

According to Yeti Airlines spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula, Captain Ghimire's phone has been tracked, and as per the last coordinates, the phone was around Larke of Lete area in Mustang district. The airline said that there is speculation that the plane had crashed as it has been out of contact since morning. However, nothing could be stated till the search and rescue teams deployed find the site and can confirm this.

A team of security personnel are moving towards the area where the aircraft could be based on the last phone location, on foot. Meanwhile, air search efforts by choppers from Nepal Army and Nepal Police are facing problems due to weather conditions. The aircraft that took off for Jomsom from Pokhara had gone missing this morning. The government has also apealed to local people to help with search and rescue effort for the missing aircraft of Tara air in Mustang. Tribhuvan International Airport office has asked people to call at landline number, 01-4113000 for any information about the missing aircraft. A total of 22 people: 13 Nepali, four Indian and two Germans and three crew members are onboard the plane.
