Transportation in rural areas of Mustang and Myagdi has been disrupted due to snowfall. Roads connecting Mustang with the national highway from Beni-Jomsom and the district headquarters Jomsom connecting all the five local levels and ward centers of the district have been blocked.
Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said that the vehicles could not move due to snow on the road. "Internal and external transport links have been cut off," he said.
Locals, pilgrims, and tourists have not been able to reach their destinations due to lack of transportation on Beni-Jomsom road, Lete-Jomsomkhand, Jomsom-Muktinath, and Kagbeni-Korla roads. Work on the transportation and development project has also stalled.
Even though the snowfall that started on Thursday afternoon was stopped this morning, the flight from Jomsom Airport has not been able to take off due to three feet thick snow everywhere. The hill settlements and hills have turned black.
The temperature of the upper Mustang has dropped to minus 15 degrees. Water is frozen in rivers, streams and wells.
