Pokhara is considered an attractive tourist destination for domestic and foreign tourists due to its mountain views, caves, Talatalaia, and cultural and natural heritage. Davies Falls, the exit of Phewa Lake, is a beautiful and attractive place for those who come to Pokhara. This waterfall in Chorepatan of Pokhara-17 is always attracting tourists. This waterfall that descends below the ground level towards Gupteshwar cave looks big and attractive in the rainy season.
It is also known as 'Davies Falls' due to its attraction for tourists. Due to covid, there has been a decrease in the number of visitors there for the past two years, but the number of tourists has increased rapidly after Dashain.
Surendra Sapkota, the head of the ticket counter at Davies Falls, informed that now most of the Indian tourists and students are coming on educational tours. Sapkota also gave the statistics of the number of tourists who come to see the waterfall in number 3 to 3,500 every day from all countries. Before Dashain, thousands of tourists used to visit daily.
Two tourists from Spain were saying after seeing the leafy waterfall, they were very attracted by such natural waterfalls. They say that they are happy to see natural resources like Phewa Lake, Davies Falls, Begnas, and Machhapuchhre Himal near the city.
From the entrance fee for viewing the leaves an annual income of more than Rs. 2 crores. The local Chorepatan Mavi has taken over the operation and protection of the waterfall.
Anyone who comes here can easily see tourists taking selfies and enjoying the coolness of the water coming from the waterfall. A Swiss tourist named Davie went missing after falling from this waterfall in 1961, so the name of this waterfall has remained Davies Falls. There is a 500-meter underground with 100 feet-deep water and is considered attractive to see the waterfall from May to October. Flower gardens around the waterfall, traditional houses, artificial scenery of mountains, Buddha statues, and photo-taking places with different tribal costumes also attract tourists.
This tourist spot, which has an area of about 12 ropani, is crowded with domestic and Indian tourists. The ticket price for viewing is Rs 20 per student, Rs 40 for Nepalese and Rs 80 for foreigners, and Rs 100 for foreigners from third countries.
