The Public Accounts Committee under the House of Representatives has directed the government to make public its opinion regarding the issue of sale and purchase of shares of Ncell Axiata Limited, a private mobile service provider based in Nepal. The government has been asked to submit its response within 48 hours.
Committee Chairperson Rishikesh Pokharel shared that the Committee also asked the government to take necessary action after carrying out comprehensive investigation on the issue within 30 days.
The Committee also decided to seek information about the matter from the Prime Minister after inviting him to the next meeting.
It directed the government to be serious on the issue of financial manipulation searching loopholes in the existing legal system as well as to submit the bill for the necessary revision and amendment to clear ambiguities in the existing laws in the next meeting.
The Public Accounts Committee had on Wednesday held discussion with Office of the Company Registrar and Nepal Telecommunications Authority regarding sale and purchase of Ncell shares.
