Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has urged the Indian business community to invest in Nepal. He made this call during his meeting with a delegation from the Federation of India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at the Taj Hotels in New Delhi today.

The Prime Minister left here for New Delhi on Sunday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

Citing that Nepal ensures a favorable atmosphere for investment, significantly in tourism, energy, and agricultural sectors, the Prime Minister urged the Indian community to explore investment opportunities in Nepal, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat.

He said the recent third Investment Summit in Kathmandu enabled a favorable atmosphere for investment through massive legal reforms, calling upon them to explore opportunities with confidence.

He advised that it would be appropriate for potential investors to choose Nepal's energy sector when Nepal and India have already signed a power trade agreement (supplies of 10,000 megawatts of electricity from Nepal to India in the next ten years). "Nepal's big hydropower projects are ready for investment."

On the occasion, FICCI President Anish Shah said they are interested in Nepal's energy, tourism, and solar plant projects. As he said, the Indian investors are closely assessing the initiatives of Prime Minister Dahal to enable an investment-friendly atmosphere in Nepal.
