Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that a systematic study on the feasibility of the resumption of the state-owned sick industries is needed.

At a meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Thursday afternoon, the Prime Minister said the national industries were pushed to crisis in the name of liberalization in the past and added that a study on the feasibility of their reoperation was necessary.

The public has aspirations to resume the national industries and also there are chances to re-operate some of the industries, the Prime Minister added.

"We have addressed this issue in the upcoming fiscal year's policies and programmes document and budget as well. So, let's have a thorough study on the re-operation of the industries and move ahead accordingly," Prime Minister Prachanda asked.

The Prime Minister was of the view that all the bodies of the state should be clear about the resumption of the industries on the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

"The industries cannot be run in the modalities and style of the past. The PPP model is the only model to run those industries. Butwal yarn factory, Gorakhkali rubber factory and other industries have great potential. So, let's prepare a partnership model from a systematic study and keep the land ownership to the government," the Prime Minister viewed.

During the meeting, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, Industry Minister Damodar Bhandari, the chief secretary, the finance secretary, the industry secretary and other government officials were present.
