Drinking water facility has reached Jhatare, Rishing Village Municipality-5 of Tanahu.
The locals, who have been consuming well water till now, are happy after getting drinking water at home. Khim Bahadur Thapa, chairman of the Jhatare Drinking Water Consumers Committee, informed that drinking water facility has reached 23 houses at a cost of fifty nine crores. The local community forest has also provided assistance for the drinking water project.
"We have been able to connect taps in the houses of the locals who have been consuming well water for years," he said. According to him, the locals used to get up in the morning and walk for hours to fetch drinking water as there was no drinking water facility at home. He said that the locals, who used to get up early in the morning to fetch drinking water, were relieved after the tap was connected at home.
Chairman of Rishing Village Municipality Rajendra Krishna Shrestha said that the living standard of the locals will also change after the provision of drinking water facility to households. "Drinking water facilities should now be linked to the source of income. Vegetable farming can also be done in Karesabari," he said.
He said that drinking water facility has already reached many villages after the arrival of people's representatives at the local level and drinking water facility will be extended to the remaining places as well. "In the past, there was a shortage of drinking water. Now there is no shortage of water. We also encourage the locals to go for vegetable farming on behalf of the villagers," he said.
