Zeshe Originals, a Nepali luxury fashion brand was founded by Chanel Shrestha and Saumya Joshi in June 2020. With its own self-manufacturing system, the brand frequently introduces high-quality and fashionable collections catering to the latest trends of men and women at a reasonable price.
Shrestha, a fashion enthusiast, was not satisfied with how many fashion trends in society were copies of other brands. “I was quickly bored and overwhelmed with the same style that was available in the market. With Zeshe, I aim to change Nepal’s fashion culture”, Shrestha says.
“We started this business with a clear vision and had a tunnel vision of our goals and objectives”, says Joshi. “We are determined to offer people with unique taste an option of elegant and luxurious wears”, he adds.
The majority of fabric used to produce the luxury fashion is imported from India and China. The designs are then manufactured in the industry located in Kathmandu. “Nepali fabrics are also used based on designs and themes of cultural reflection”, says Joshi.
Luxury wear is automatically assumed to be expensive, however, Shrestha says, “People confuse luxury with expensive items because a lot of popular luxury brands like Gucci and Dior have a thick price tag. These international brands are very expensive because their product portfolio is large and they invest huge money on marketing”. “So, the prices of luxury wear actually depend on design, fabric, time, effort, and embroidery”, she adds.
Luxury wears are designer, unique clothes and are not meant to be worn every day. “The quality and design of our clothes are precisely suited for special occasions”, says Joshi. “Keeping the needs and demands of an average buyer in mind, our items are reasonable and affordable”, he adds.
Nepali fashion has changed a lot over the course of time. Shrestha, who believes that fashion should have no boundaries says, “It makes me happy to see Nepalese fashion step out of the box sometimes”.
“It is important to not forget our culture and our roots in the process of modernizing. However, we should also be aware of the latest trends”, says Joshi. “A fusion of cultures is what I think is best”, he adds.
Unlike fast fashion brands that manufacture cheap, trendy clothing that samples ideas from runways or celebrities and turns them into garments in street stores to meet consumer demands, luxury fashion brands provide more power to their customers through more unique designs, creativity, and quality as well.
“I believe that the ‘fashion industry’ would be colorless without luxury brands. Luxury fashion brands are unique, artistic, and special”, says Shrestha. “It provides a means to a lifestyle that is triggered by deep psychological and emotional needs, which are expressed through elite products”, she adds.
Despite the fashion industry booming in Nepal, Shrestha does not worry about the competition. “We work with a unique vision and have a unique style of working”, says Joshi. “We are determined to be a leading brand in this race of fashion buzz and trends”, she adds.
