49 children in Naxal, Siphal Bal Mandirs infected with COVID-19

In a recent development, 49 children of the Bal Mandirs situated in Naxal and Siphal have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The two children homes are run by the Nepal Children’s Organisation (Nepal Bal Sangathan).

Vidya Upadhyaya Neupane, Chairperson of Nepal Children’s Organisation, said that the infections were detected after some children above five years showed symptoms of the virus and tests were carried out. According to her, the children in Children’s Home, Naxal have already been kept in isolation.

Out of the tests carried out on 70 children in Child Protection Home, Siphal, 36 were found to be COVID-19 positive. Similarly, 29 children residing in the Bal Mandir in Naxal were found to be coronavirus positive. However, the COVID test results of some of the children are yet to come.

Some of the children infected with the coronavirus are between eight months and 10 years old. Two of the children who have been infected are 18 years old.
