63% people in Kathmandu fully vaccinated

Sixty-three per cent of the eligible population has been given a full dose of vaccine against coronavirus in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

According to the KMC Public Health Department, 63 percent eligible population has received a full dose of the vaccine while 75 percent has got the first shot so far. The KMC has forwarded vaccination campaigns in an effective manner as cases of coronavirus are increasing in the recent period.

Chief of KMC Public Health Department, Hari Kunwar, said that the vaccination programme has been accelerated for those remaining to administer a second dose and the eligible citizens remaining to get both doses of vaccine. There are 1.563 million people from the eligible group to be vaccinated in Kathmandu.

The vaccination programme is being run from 11 places out of 32 in KMC daily, while the vaccination programme is being operated at four main checkpoints of entry to the Kathmandu Valley by deploying health teams, according to the KMC.

He further said that the vaccine programme should be made more effective in order to lessen human casualties from coronavirus as cases and the number of deceased is increasing in many countries of the world including neighbour country, India.

"Citizens themselves should be aware of the same. People should follow the health safety protocols issued by the government. The possible losses from coronavirus infection can be reduced this time too if there is cooperation of all."

Of the total population of the country, 35.9 percent population have got the full dose of vaccine against COVID-19 while the first dose of vaccine was administered to 48.5 percent population so far.
