Omicron confirmed in 24 people in Nepal

Infection of Omicron variant has been confirmed in 24 more people in Nepal. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the Omicron variant has been confirmed in all the 24 samples that were genetically sequenced last time.

During the screening of 1,146 positive samples of coronavirus collected in December/January, 250 of them were found to be S-gene negative. Of the negative cases, 24 were gene-sequenced and all of them were confirmed to be infected with Omicron.

All hospitals have been asked to be on high alert, keeping in mind the increased risk of infection due to the Omicron variant.
