The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police today made public Ramlal Bamjan aka Ram Bahadur Bamjan who was apprehended on Tuesday evening from his Budhanilkantha-based residence in Kathmandu.

According to CIB Chief, Additional Inspector General of Police Kiran Bajracharya, Bamjan faces charges of sexual harassment, pedophilia, and the forced disappearance of individuals.

During the raid at his residence, police seized foreign currencies from 17 different countries, amounting to Rs 3 million and 92 thousand, along with Nepali rupees totaling 30 million and 375 thousand.

The arrest comes in response to a complaint filed by a 22-year-old woman, who had been a disciple in Bamjan's ashram in Halkhoriya, Bara, since July-August, 2014. The charges against Bamjan prompted the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Sarlahi District Court on February 20, 2020.

CIB also received a tip alleging Bamjan's illegal accumulation of foreign and Nepali currencies. After an extensive search, the self-proclaimed 'Little Buddha,' aged 34, was apprehended at his residence in Budhanilkantha municipality-6.

During the arrest, Bamjan attempted to escape by jumping from a window on the south face of the fourth story of his house, according to CIB Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari.

In addition to the illegal currency, authorities confiscated 14 mobile phones, four laptops and tablets, 20 pen drives, and various other electronic devices during the raid at his house. The police are now investigating complaints related to individuals who are reported to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances from Bamjan's ashram.
