The Food Management and Trading Company Limited (FMTCL) has yet to pay the land and house tax to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).
Chairman of KMC-11 Hiralal Tandukar said the company has not paid land and house tax for seven ropanis of the land of Plot No. 2395. The Company had issued a public notice some five years ago to rent the land and 20 plus companies had applied for the tender bidding.
Of them, the Funland Entertainment Pvt Ltd was awarded the contract on April 20, 2017, to lease the land at Rs 1.05 million per month for the highest bidding, Company’s Information Officer Sarmila Neupane Subedi said.
The Company has not paid the tax despite renting the house. Tandukar said that the Chief Executive Officer and other officials of the Company were asked to pay the tax prior to selling the land plot to the Metropolitan Police Range. “But, they settled the issue without paying taxes. However, the ward office has received Rs 600,000 in tax for the road access,” Tandukar said.
