Man arrested for claiming to be DSP of Nepal Police in Kathmandu

Police in Kathmandu district on Monday arrested a man on charge of claiming to be a DSP of Nepal Police from Jarangu in Tarkeshwor Municipality-6.

The arrested has been identified as Krishna Prasad Dhungana (44), owner of Victoria Pharmacy and resident of Tarkeshwor Municipality-6.

He had posted a photo of himself dressed in the uniform of a DSP of Nepal Police on Facebook. Acting on a tip-off, Minbhawan-based Metropolitan Crime Branch nabbed him from his pharmacy.

During the investigation, police found that he was running a pharmacy by claiming to be a doctor and also a medical director. When police personnel from Nepal Police used to visit his pharmacy Dhungana used to claim that he was a DSP in the Armed Police Force (APF) and when APF personnel used to visit him he used to pretend to be a DSP in Nepal Police.

The security personnel also recovered three photographs of Dhungana wearing the uniform of a DSP of Nepal Police. He also had pictures of himself wearing a Nepal Police jersey. The police also seized a mobile phone from his possession.

Further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
